Welcome to the Apex Super League

Apex Super League was built around one question: what happens to a player when the season ends?

For most junior footballers in Western Australia the summer is three months of nothing - no structured training, no competitive minutes, and no one tracking whether they are getting better. The gap between winter seasons is where progress quietly goes backwards.

From 12 October 2026 to 20 December 2026, players aged 8 to 14 train with a real club, in a real squad, and play a competitive fixture every Sunday - the same rhythm they have during the winter season, run to the same standard.

This is not holiday-camp football. It is a full season with a ladder, a finals series, and coaches accountable for whether your child improved between October and December.

What a season looks like

  • Full time football

Up to 5 sessions a week, tactical coaching built around your club's playing style, and a fixture every Sunday. The week has a shape to it.

  • Real development

Players are graded into balanced squads, then coached on the technical, tactical and physical side of the game - with a written progress note at the halfway mark and at the end of the season.

  • Competitive edge

Four clubs, each with its own coach, kit, training night and identity. A live ladder, a golden boot race, and a finals series that actually decides something.

The league

How does it work?

Apex Super League runs through Term 4, when the Football West season has finished. Ten weeks of proper football instead of three months off.

Four clubs, one draft

Every player attends a grading session before the season starts. Our coaches watch your child play, then draft them into one of four clubs so every team is balanced and nobody spends ten weeks out of their depth.

Each club has its own head coach, kit, training night and way of playing. Your child stays with that club for the whole season, which is what makes it feel like a real team rather than a holiday clinic.

Age groups run from U8 through to U14, boys and girls in every one.

Players U15 and above have a separate off-season program with its own weekly fixtures. Ask us when you register and we will put you in touch.

One night a week, every week

Each club trains on its own night, so you know your evening from week one and it never moves. Sessions run for ninety minutes.

A typical night: twenty minutes of technical work, forty minutes on the week’s tactical theme, then thirty minutes of small-sided games where they actually apply it.

Coaches carry a squad of no more than sixteen players, which means real contact time rather than queuing for a turn.

If your child wants more, additional sessions are available across the week at no extra cost for league players.

Training nights

  • Sporting City of Perth Monday
  • Rayo Perth Tuesday
  • Borussia Perth Wednesday
  • Perth Rangers Thursday

Your child's night is confirmed when they are drafted after grading.

A real season, not a scratch match

Fixtures are played every Sunday. Each club meets the other three across the season, home and away, within your child’s age group.

Three points for a win, one for a draw. The ladder is published on this site after every round, alongside the Golden Boot race, so players can follow their own season the way they follow a professional one.

The top two clubs in each age group contest a grand final on the last matchday, played on the main pitch with everyone watching.

Every registered player is guaranteed game time in every fixture they attend. This is a development league, so nobody sits on a bench to protect a result.

Where it can lead

Our coaches write a short end-of-season report for every player: what improved, what to work on, and where they sit against their own starting point. It goes to you, not to a public list.

Players who are ready for more are pointed toward the right next step, whether that is an NPL trial, a Football West program, or simply a stronger club side for the winter season.

We are honest with parents about this. Most children in the league are here to enjoy a summer of good football with their mates, and that is a completely valid reason to play. We will never sell you a pathway your child has not earned.

Training nights and matchday times

Every band trains with its club through the week and plays a competitive fixture on Sunday. All sessions run at Apex Football Centre, REPLACE WITH REAL STREET ADDRESS, Perth WA.

Expressions of interest open

Help us build the girls' league

We are putting together a girls-only competition for players aged 8 to 14 - the same format as the main league, with its own clubs, coaches and Sunday fixtures, in a dedicated female football environment.

It runs when the numbers are there. Register your interest and you will be the first to hear the format, the training nights, the fees and the trial dates as soon as they are confirmed.

We answer every enquiry within one business day.

This is an expression of interest, not a booking - there is nothing to pay and nothing is confirmed yet.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Apex Super League?

A ten-week summer football competition for players aged 8 to 14. Your child is drafted into one of four clubs, trains with that club each week, and plays a real fixture every Sunday against the other clubs in their age group.

It runs through Term 4, when the winter club season has finished - so players keep developing instead of losing three months.

What does it cost, and are there any extra fees?

One price covers the whole season, and it is the only number you will ever see. It includes GST, your child’s playing kit, all training sessions and every match.

There is no booking fee, no card surcharge and no tax added at the checkout screen. The price on this page is the price you pay.

Who can play?

Any player aged 8 to 14, boys and girls, from any club or no club at all. You do not need to be an existing Apex player.

We grade every player before the season so teams are balanced and your child is matched with players of similar ability - nobody spends ten weeks out of their depth or unchallenged.

Can girls play?

Yes - girls play in every age group, and the full season structure, fees and fixture list are exactly the same as for the boys. Nothing is “coming soon” and nothing is decided later depending on numbers.

If you would prefer your daughter played in a girls-only team, tell us when you register and we will place her accordingly.

How do you keep my child safe?

Every coach who works with your child holds a current Western Australian Working With Children Check, and we record the card number and expiry before they take a single session.

Sessions are supervised, our coaches are insured, and we hold a first-aid qualified staff member on site at every match day.

What if my child can't continue?

If your child is injured or cannot continue for a medical reason, we refund the unplayed portion of the season on a pro-rata basis - just send us the details.

If you change your mind before the season starts on the first match day, you get a full refund, no questions asked.
